You can believe this review, i hope you can try to buy this product if you want know this product. I bought this head unit after my KDC-X869 from 10 years ago was finally in need of an upgrade. I have it in my Pontiac Trans Am running a system with 2 external Phoenix Gold amps (Titanium 500.4 and RSD 1200.1) so I cannot comment on the power output or quality of internal amplification. I can say with certainty that the audio decompression, customization and signal output is excellent. Kenwood has been my top brand for head unit's for a long time and they live up to and exceed my expectations with this unit! It produces an extremely high quality signal and more customization options than almost anyone needs. The menus are easy to get used to and in a couple days you'll be flying through the different options to show off all that your unti can do. The display is basic but better than most single-DIN systems, and again very customizable. There is no other head unit that comes close to this quality in the same price range. I cannot say enough good things about this unit.
The negatives of this unit are FAR AND AWAY out weighed by the pros, but nothing is perfect so here are some drawbacks that I found. It's mentioned in other reviews but the screen is very reflective so glare can be an issue. There is an adjustment to have positive/negative screen lighting which helps in daytime light but its more of a minor annoyance than anything. If you're buying a unit for a screen, it likely isn't a single-din non-dvd anyway. This unit seems to pick up on my scratched CDs much more than previous Kenwood units. This is more of an issue with the fact that my CDs are not in the best shape due to heavy listening/changing of them for years. If your CDs are in good shape, you can re-burn/buff the CD, or load the songs on a USB/iPod this is a 100% nonissue; it's just lead me to have to rebuff/burn a lot of my cds. The depth of this unit is deceiving. It's measurable depth is longer than the measurements say IF you connect RCA inputs as they plug directly into the back bottom left of the unti. This only extends the unit by a couple inches at most but it was enough to make me have to make some custom adjustments to make it fit. Finally, there is a ~3 foot cable from the back of the unit to a USB input jack which is great for having that sit in the glove box but the 1/8" mini is simply a jack on the back of the unit. Again this is a very minor inconvenience but it would have been really nice to have the same short cabled jack for the 1/8" mini.
